Nobody wants to see Dead Children? Duh

Many were offended last weekend after the Nation Wide Insurance spot aired during Super Bowl XLIX, cause who likes to see a dead kid while enjoying one of the most entertaining and most profitable TV spectacles in the USA, right? Also of course one with the best ratings in TV… And that’s exactly why they aired that spot, cause nobody likes to see a dead kid ever, period. But in a way we all need to be conscious about risks.

I’m not saying I agree with the message on the spot, just that I do understand two things, the spot itself and why they choose the Super Bowl for it; and why so many got offended. This last thing is the real problem, think about it instead of being offended so easily.

Rhyolite Ghost Town | Photogallery

Rhyolite was once called “The Chicago from the South”. Founded in 1904 after discovering quartz all over a hill, it come to down and was abandoned in 1916. The population shrunk to fourteen by the beginning of 1920 and by then was already considered a ghost town. The last resident died in 1924. Rhyolite is now one of the most attractive ghost towns in the state of Nevada.

Rise Festival: From Light to Darkness

We were at the Rise Lanterns Festival this past Saturday night, outside Jean, Nevada; a show that consisted in the “launching” of thousands of Cambodian lanterns in the middle of the desert.

The lantern experience was beautiful, unmatched, really touching and magic. Truly something that I would like to experience again and even more, I would love to share it with family and friends; I would happily ask them to come and see it for themselves. It was remarkable. Continue reading

El periodismo y la forma de comunicar la información en la era actual se ha reducido dramáticamente a los titulares de las noticias.

Los encabezados pueden llegar a ser hoy en día la diferencia. Quizá lo único que la gente lea. Muchos community managers lo sabrán, pues en sus publicaciones de redes sociales a veces parece que ni eso llega a suceder. Los navegantes de websites, redes sociales, blogs, etc., no se convirtieron en nuevos lectores, simplemente en un nuevo tipo de consumidores. Pero es un hecho, el título más que atrapar, puede llegar a serlo todo.

Basta ver UpWorthy, uno de los mejores en hacerlo, no importa la selección del contenido que publican, en realidad sólo lo rebautizan, incluso opinan siendo la opinión el encabezado lo que atrae el click. Y funciona, vaya si funciona, tanto que muchas veces el contenido puede llegarnos por ahí en vez de hacerlo por los medios donde es originalmente publicado. En muchos medios y blogs ya pasa. El título de mi columna es un ejemplo, un video originalmente publicado como “Zach Whals speaks about Family” (Zach Whals habla sobre la familia). Algo que no dice absolutamente nada, Whals no era un apellido famoso, “importante”, y sin duda hablar de la familia es todo menos mediático. Continue reading

La sala de conciertos de la Ópera de Sydney contiene 2.700 personas. Este blog ha sido visto cerca de 15.000 veces en 2013. Si fuera un concierto en el Sydney Opera House, se se necesitarían alrededor de 6 presentaciones con entradas agotadas para que todos lo vean.
