They do care that you are black

He didn’t die at the hands of police.

He was murdered by the police.

Because they can do that. They’ve proudly done it forever.

They can do more and they will.

It doesn’t matter if you gain rights. They don’t care if you kneel. They don’t care if you stand. They don’t care if you scream. They don’t care if you breathe.

But they do care that you are black. They do care that you are brown. They do care that you are not them.

They will not tolerate you complaining in any way.

They are not angry about George Floyd.

They are angry with you, because unlike George, you’re not yet gone.

I hear the sirens, I hear the helicopters. I see the lights on the finest cars.

Preludes to the battlefield and reminders of the stench of rotten Freedom.

America fights for Freedom.

Freedom that few can exercise.

America claims to have earned Freedom.

Freedom to shut your peaceful and righteous protest.

Americans shout Freedom during every half time.

America’s Freedom is the same we all have.

The same freedom that we all see being torn apart.

The same Freedom we all think we have.

Just remember…

You didn’t need to see a video to know.

You didn’t need to hear him begging to know.

You didn’t need to see that knee on his neck to know.

You’ve always know. And you know them.

So don’t quit. Protest every minute of your life.

Protest in thousands different ways tonight and for the rest of your life.

Protest in every dance. Protest in every song.

Protest in the morning and protest during holidays.

Protest at the bank, at the mall, at your daily workout, at home.

Stare at them and protest.

Stand up on the edge and protest.

Show them who you are and protest.

Protest for you, for me, for all of the Georges we’ve seen die, and the many more that we have not.

Don’t wait for the next video.

Protest them out.

Black lives matter to us. All lives.

For them … no.
